Land Purchase

Well I finally did it. After reading and following others adventures into the homesteading life I have started my own journey. I purchased 10 acres of land in the Ozarks of MO, site unseen(other than pictures). I was a little terrified to do it this way however it was too good of deal to pass up and it had almost everything I was looking for except a pond. It has a known well depth of 500 ft with good pressure and quality, 80% forested, several flat locations to build on, and about 20% pasture. It is also very south MO which should be slightly warmer than here in central IL. Another big plus is it is near a CO road and not terribly far from medical services if we should need them, with 2 young boys I am sure I will be needing them at some point or another!

I am hoping to make the drive down with the family in coming weeks, hopefully before it snows to get a glimpse of my little slice of Earth. Once I do I will post some pictures and develop a development plan to start building. Over the course of next summer I want to build a starter cabin so that I can move in full time if the modern world should come to an end, zombies attack, or I just don't feel like working 80 hours a week anymore!

You experienced ones out there, please let me know if there is anything I should know or things that you wish you had taken into account when you made your own move into homesteading.
